Q. What is this site for?
A. It lets laid off workers find old co-workers that also got axed to keep in touch with. Also to
provide an area for ex-employees to post jobs for each other and help each other out, since their company isn't going to do that for
them. There are also tons of articles and links for just about any question you could possibly have if you've been laid off. Lastly it's a place to throw your hands up in the air and question how this could happen to you.
Q. Is this a joke?
A. Yes and no. It started out as one, because about 2 dozen of the founders of this web site's friends were laid off over a 4 month stretch. The idea of keeping
in contact, helping each other out, and providing a common place to share the frustrations of being laid off is no joke.
Q. Damn you sell outs--why are the advertisements on this web site?
A. In order to keep this site free, like we feel most of the web should be, we need to cover our hosting costs some how. Sorry...
Q. So the founders of this web site were laid off?
A. No, we worked on this BEFORE we got laid off WHILE we were at our full time jobs. That's why we got laid off. Sarcasm doesn't carry over well in HTML. We were laid off, then started the site-- In truth both the founders of Laid Off Central have felt your pain and we started our own company called International Web Solutions.
Q. Are you guys still laid off?
A. See above A. We started our own company that is still around today (July 2002), so we are surviving, but not thriving. See our cool ad on the right side of this page! Then again, who is thriving now?

Q. Is my information kept personal that I fill in when I register?
A. Yes, absolutely. It's not sold, re-used, etc. We won't even contact you if you don't want us to!
Q. Then why do you need the personal info?
A. Well, the idea of the site is to provide that info to your fellow ex-coworkers should you want them to call or email you. If you don't want that and would
prefer just to be an observer, just check the appropriate buttons during registration to hide your personal info. Simple!
Q. Can I get in trouble for what I post if it's not true?
A. Well, if you post anonymously then we don't track it, so if a company decides to sue, hopefully it won't be us. Now, if there is some
serious issue, then please understand that your ISP keeps track of where you connect to and other info where they can trace you back if they
absolutely want to, so please be careful before you accuse a company official or company of doing something that you can't back up.

POSTING:
No Advertisements!
Posting a topic or replying to a topic with an advertisement is strictly prohibited. The advertisement WILL be
deleted as soon as the moderator catches up to all the postings. Any users that post advertisements may have
their accounts deleted.
Flaming
A heated discussion is one thing, but blatant flaming of another user will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
Feel free to speak your mind about a company though, but don't rant too much.
